Our last destination in Nebraska was to the tiny town of Elmwood (if you thought Oakland was small, Elmwood is even smaller!) to stay with Matt’s third sister, Chrissi and daughter Norah.
A highlight of Aunt Chrissi’s place is that she has animals…a dog (Bo, or ‘Bo Bo’ to Clio) a couple of cats and LOTS of chickens!
Eden thought it was awesome being able to collect the eggs from inside the barn, while Clio got to crack her first egg when she made some fresh custard (pudding) with Aunt Chrissi.
The four of them had lots of hugs and giggles on the hammock, I did contemplate joining them at one point but decided against because I am certain I would have flipped it!
Chrissi took a couple of days off work to hang out with us; the first we spent at University of Nebraska’s Morrill Hall. Eden has been here a few times now but each time it is just as exciting, if not more, than the time before; she notices new things and has a whole new array of questions to ask.
The following day we all headed to watch the latest Cinderella movie at the cinema. I am so pleased we did because it was good but also we got to see that mini Frozen movie; perfect for a Frozen OBSESSED Clio!
This was Clio’s second movie theatre experience and I think she improved from the first; for example she didn’t take her diaper off and hand it to me like she did the first time! She did however drop all the twizzlers under the seat and at one point she got trapped in a seat; which she wasn’t meant to be climbing on to begin with!
I am so happy that we were able to make this trip happen and so thankful to Matt’s parents & 3 awesome sisters for not only accommodating us, feeding us and entertaining us so well but also for loving on the girls. When we left Nebraska Eden was literally in tears and even being home nearly a month she still says how much she misses everyone.
It was a GREAT, fun filled 4 weeks in Nebraska, but despite the tears we were ready and excited to be heading back to Japan & back to Matt; but we still had one more quick stop in the U.S. to make…
